Meet Our Doctors
Our doctors are board certified by the American Board of Venous & Lymphatic Medicine to provide patients with the top – tier care each individual deserves.
At The Vein Center, diagnosis and treatment of leg conditions attributable to varicose veins are performed. Often a person may not have large, bulging veins, but tired, aching, swelling, restless legs – all can be signs of veins not working properly. An initial consultation is performed and an ultrasound of the legs is scheduled. The ultrasound indicates if the veins are normal, or if they are refluxing – a condition resulting from defective vein structure allowing blood to flow backward down the legs.
The backward flow of blood and increase in pressure it causes in the legs lead to problems with aching, swelling, restlessness and visible varicose veins. Based on ultrasound results, a treatment plan is outlined. Often the ultrasound and the treatment programs are covered by insurance.
Our Services
Ambulatory Phlebectomy
This method surgically removes larger varicose veins near the skin surface. It is frequently used as a supportive treatment when Closure procedures are performed. At The Vein Center phlebectomies are done with the patient under “twilight anesthesia”, or conscious I. V. sedation, and local anesthesia in our comfortable free-standing surgical facility. Tiny 1-2mm punctures are made to extract the thin-walled varicose vein. “Micro” instruments are used, thus leaving very small and hardly noticeable scars.

Laser Therapy
Laser treatment of spider veins and telangectasias has been a controversial subject. Up until recently, laser use has resulted in inconsistent success. Dr. McDonnell and the professional staff at The Vein Center have evaluated the new Lyra© state-of-the-art vascular laser which was designed to target blue, purple, and red-ish vessels in people of all skin types.

Radio-Frequency Closure
Traditionally, varicose vein procedures involved removing (stripping) the troublesome vein from the legs. The revolutionary FDA-approved Closure procedure has had exceptional results throughout the country, as it is minimally invasive. Peer reviewed publications have shown the 12 month results are comparable to traditional surgery.
